The University of Sheffield WiFi Installation

Client

The University College of Sheffield was formed in 1897 when the three institutions: Sheffield Medical School, Firth College and the Sheffield Technical School came together. It wasn’t until 1905 that it became known as the University of Sheffield.

Requirement

Conceptunet were engaged to install Wi-Fi across 3 student halls of residence in preparation for the start of the 2012 term. The project will give Wi-Fi connectivity to over 800 students across the 3 buildings and will ensure the accommodation meets the growing needs of its students.

Outcome

In order to complete the task Conceptunet installed 5km of Nexans Cat5e cable and over 100 Cisco wireless devices as part of the project.

The deadlines given by the University were tight in order to complete the install before the students returned after the summer break. Conceptunet successfully completed the task on time and to the satisfaction of the client
