Karndean Designflooring Place and Learn

Project 

We were tasked with the supply and installation of an interactive Place and Learn “Playtable” and wall-mounted digital screens for Karndean Designflooring. This enabled them to provide an interactive customer experience providing shoppers with a tailored digital journey relevant to the product sample they select. 

Using a  customised digital solution delivered via a collaboration with The Shopper Agency and SignStix, we delivered content via the SignStix CMS utilising a combination of standard functionality, API integration with third party websites alongside some bespoke development.

Challenges

Conceptunet were selected by The Shopper Agency to supply and install all the digital hardware. As an Enterprise SignStix partner, we were ideally placed to configure the RFID sensors and SignStix media players as well as providing ongoing maintenance and support required. 

Digital signage plays a key role within the concept, which includes an interactive Place and Learn “Playtable” supported by traditional wall-mounted screens playing video content. 

All of Karndean’s playtable content has been designed by The Shopper Agency using SignStix’s easy-to-use web-based content creation and animation tools, including the configuration of the Place and Learn technology itself via the SignStix API.

Outcome

The Shopper Agency – a retail experience agency – designed the new studio format which was informed by shopper research, resulting in a meaningful and engaging customer experience centred around personalisation and inspiration.

The studio’s digital media wall can also be managed from the same, central SignStix account, giving Karndean complete control of their content across every digital touchpoint within their retail concept. Additional screen mirroring functionality is also provided which enables the retailer to switch to content accessed from their mobile devices.

The new retail concept, named Karndean Inspire Studios, has been designed to revolutionise the in-store retail experience and help inspire and guide customers as they choose the right flooring for their home.

Designed and developed using the SignStix platform, shoppers are presented with relevant product information once they place a flooring sample on the playtable, helping them to visualise how the flooring might look in their home. Each product sample chip is fitted with an RFID tag, which gives it a unique ID. Once a customer places a chip in the special slot, a sensor connected to a SignStix media player reads the RFID information and the digital content automatically switches and guides shoppers on a fully interactive, exploratory journey that’s specific to their product selection.
